Why does the COEC work with communities?

The COEC communicates environmental health findings and translates CEG research to the community members, and ensures that scientific research does not remain confined to science labs.

Which communities do we help?

The COEC is particularly interested in engaging populations, including minority and underserved communities, that are affected by environmental contaminants and exposures. Because these populations are at a greater risk of being affected by environmental contaminants and exposures, the COEC is particularly interested in reaching out to these peoples. CEG researchers have partnered with communities as close as the Appalachian populations in Southeast, Ohio and reaching as far as the villages of China.
