Our research objectives are
to investigate the genetic determinants
controlling the response of the lung to
environmental agents. These objectives are
to be met by the following specific aims:
|
 |
|
1. |
To examine the genetic determinants of
complex respiratory diseases including
asthma, acute lung injury (neonatal alveolar
proteinosis and adult respiratory distress
syndrome), and lung cancer |
|
2. |
To develop model systems of altered
susceptibility to environmental injury
(e.g., gene targeted, cell-directed, and
conditional transgenesis in the mouse lung). |
|
3. |
To examine
developmental genomic programs that are
evoked during epithelial injury and repair
(e.g., lung genes under control of the
mitogen- and stress-activated pathways).
