Genomics
and Sequencing Core |
The Genomics and Sequencing Core (GSC) is as a fee-for-service, one-stop core facility to provide genomics- and epigentics-related services to researchers at the University of Cincinnati and its affiliates. Using cutting-edge technologies, GSC offers a wide range of whole-genomics and targeted services for multidimensional integrated analysis.
It also provide services to other academic institions and non-profit research organizations on contract bases.

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Services :
With
the purchase of
Illumina HiSeq System
in 2011, GSMC is now capable of
leveraging massively parallel
sequencing technology for
groundbreaking studies in DNA
sequencing, gene regulation,
transcriptome and small RNA discovery
analysis, exome capture and SNP
discovery, DNA-protein interaction and
sequencing-based methylation analysis.

Real-time PCR analysis of
predefined/custom panels in
384 well format for gene
expression and SNPs |
|
 |
We offer
DNA/RNA extraction from a
variety of cells and tissues
(fresh, frozen, FFPE, LCM sections), DNA/RNA
quality check (Agilent
BioAnalyzer), DNA/chromatin
fragmentation (using Covaris
S2) |
Bioinformatics Analysis:
-
GSMC is supported by
The
Laboratory for Statistical Genomics
and Systems Biology
which is directed by
Dr. Mario Medvedovic.
-
The GSMC and
the bioinformatics cores are
integrated to provide extensive
informatic services, starting with initiation of
experiments, providing optimal
experimental design, conducting
whole- sequencing and microarray
analysis, and providing standard and
customized bioinformatic analysis
packages for successful completion and
publication of data.
