The BCA was founded
in 1994 by local women concerned
that unstudied environmental
exposures caused their breast
cancers.
The BCA is commited to making
"breast cancer issues a top priority
in the private and public sectors
through education, advocacy, and
communication." The BCA sits on the
Board of Trustees of the
National Breast
Cancer Coalition (NBCC).
Patterns Inc.
Patterns
Inc. is a support organization for
African American women in
Cincinnati.
Founded in 1997, the mission of
Patterns is to "raise the
consciousness of people of color
regarding the impact of cancer in
their lives, By incorporating the
development of the extended family
as a support system for cancer
patients, members encourage the
enrichment of mind, body, and
spirit."
Pink Ribbon Girls (PRG)
was founded to help young women
diagnosed with breast cancer by
creating a support network of
survivors using personal contact and
the internet, In addition, PRG
supports local research programs by
donating monies for special
programs.
Sisters Network
Cincinnati, established 2004, is one
of thirty-nine affiliates or
Sisters Network, Inc., the only
national African American cancer
survivorship organization. The
mission of the Cincinnati affiliate
chapter is to "provide programs of
support, breast health education,
advocacy and research.
Susan G. Komen for
the Cure-Greater Cincinnati is one
of 125
Susan

affiliates. The local affiliate
conducts fund raising events and
supports local breast cancer
screening, educational programming,
and travel to conferences.
