PRESIDENT |
Marisol Barrero, M.S., CPE, currently works for Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America (Erlanger, KY) as an Ergonomics Specialist in the Production Engineering Division. She currently develops and supports ergonomics-related tools, standards, and procedures for use across Toyota’s North American manufacturing facilities. Before joining Toyota in 2006 Marisol worked as an ergonomics consultant, first with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (Cincinnati, OH) and later with Humantech, Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI). Marisol has also worked as an ergonomics researcher for the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) in Cincinnati, OH, studying ergonomic interventions to reduce physical risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Her first job after graduate school was as a Human Factors Intern with IDEO Product Development (Palo Alto, CA), where she contributed to multiple commercial product design projects. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Design & Environmental Analysis (Human Factors/Ergonomics Concentration), both from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. This is Marisol’s first year on the Tri-State HFES Board, but she has been a member of National HFES since 1999 and has been actively involved with Tri-State HFES since 2002. PRESIDENT-ELECT |
Angie Fellner, PhD, graduated from the University of Cincinnati in the Human Factors Psychology program. To date, her research focus has been on emotional intelligence and its effect upon performance of a variety of cognitive tasks. Additional research interests include occupational stress and its effect on job performance, productivity, and satisfaction. In addition to her academic pursuits, Angie works as a Research Specialist position at the Hatton Institute for Research and Education, the research arm of TriHealth, Inc. In this capacity, she consults with nurses at Good Samaritan and Bethesda North hospitals to design, implement, and present research studies aimed at improving patient care. Angie has been a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society for three years and a member of the Tri-State Chapter for two years. She has previously served as the UC Student Representative in the Tri-State Chapter. (fellnean@email.uc.edu). |

PRESIDENT |
Dr. Douglas Gardner is a Human Factors Consultant at LexisNexis and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at Miami University. Doug previously served as the chapter secretary. He was also the organizer and host of the 2005, 2006, & 2007 Southwest Ohio World Usability Day events, and is in the Cognitive Systems Engineering Consortium. He has more than 20 years of research experience and 12 years of applied experience with software and web-based user-interface design and usability. Current interests involve creation and governance of corporate human factors standards the usability of software interface tools for understanding and navigating large hierarchical data structures, in addition to interests in preferred critical boundaries in reaching and general user interface issues within information search and retrieval. Doug has an interface design patent pending for a multi-level expand/collapse tool for navigating hierarchical data structures. He also is a reviewer for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society conference programs and has numerous publications and presentations. Doug has a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois and a PhD in Experimental Psychology from Miami University. (douglas.gardner@lexisnexis.com) |
| TREASURER Jessica Ramsey, MS |
Jessica Ramsey, MS is an Ergonomist and Industrial Hygienist at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) working in the Hazard Evaluation and Technical Assistance Branch (HETAB). She has performed ergonomic-related health hazard evaluations at a variety of industries including aircraft parts distributors, poultry frank processors, and piston/cylinder liner manufacturers. Prior to working in HETAB, she was a Research Ergonomist at NIOSH on the Musculoskeletal Disorder Research Program performing ergonomic evaluations, as well as coordinating multi-video task analysis and posture analysis. Jessica holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene with an emphasis in ergonomics from the University of Cincinnati (UC). She has begun her Ph.D. graduate study at UC. Prior to working at NIOSH she worked in the Biomechanics and Ergonomics Research Laboratory at UC performing research that focused on postural sway, slips and falls in a variety of occupations including older workers, coal miners and lead abatement workers. Steve Wurzelbacher, Ph.D, CPE, is currently a Research Industrial Hygienist at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health where he is involved with a wide range of ergonomic and industrial hygiene projects. Previously, Steve worked as a loss control consultant/ ergonomist with MSIG insurance from 2001-2007 and as a research industrial hygienist with NIOSH from 1998-2001. Steve has worked for over 10 years in the safety and health field, as both a researcher and as a practitioner and has collaborated on several journal publications. He has broad interests in ergonomics, safety, and IH. He has specialized in developing exposure metrics, program evaluations, and practical workplace controls, including a patented postural support device. Steve has a Ph.D. in Occupational Safety and Ergonomics from the University of Cincinnati and a BS in Chemical Science from Xavier University. (swurzelbacher@cdc.gov) |

Melissa Arrington |
Melissa Arrington is in her second year of graduate study at Northern Kentucky University in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program. Her research interests include workplace stress, work-family balance, stereotyping, and discrimination. Melissa is an ORISE Fellow at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health working in the Organizational Science and Human Factors Branch. As a member of the Work Organization and Stress Research Team she works on a number of projects related to priority populations.
