Tiina Reponen

Dr. Reponen is Professor in the Department of Environmental Health, College of Medicine. As an expert in indoor allergens and mold, she served as the principal investigator in several major laboratory and field experiments on airborne allergens, bacteria, and fungi and has directed exposure assessment teams in population-based studies, including the Cincinnati Childhood Allergy and Air Pollution study (CCAAPS), Marietta study and e-waste study. Dr. Reponen is the Director of the NIOSH-funded University of Cincinnati Education and Research Center (ERC), which includes graduate programs related to occupational health from three colleges: Medicine, Nursing and Applied Science and Engineering. Dr. Reponen teaches two required courses on exposure assessment to graduate students in the Industrial Hygiene program (since 1998) and is an affiliated faculty in the Environmental Public Health Concentration of the MPH program. She has mentored ~40 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. She has also served in PhD committees and as an external reviewer of PhD theses of several international students (from Finland, Australia, France, and Lithuania).

Dr. Reponen is an Editor for the Aerosol Science and Technology journal, an Associate Editor for the Indoor Air Journal and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Science of the Total Environment. She was a member of the Safety and Occupational Study section in 2011-2014 and continues as ad hoc reviewer. She is active in the American Association of Aerosol Research (AAAR) and the International Society of Indoor Air Quality (ISIAQ). In the AAAR, she has served in the Board of Directors, the Chair of Indoor Aerosols working group and is currently the Chair of the Awards committee. In the ISIAQ, she serves as the Treasure in the Board of Directors. She was initiated as a new member of the ISIAQ Academy of Fellows in July 2014.  Currently she has Visiting Professor appointment in Finland as a recipient of Finland Distinguished Professor (FiDiPro) award.
